How Zappos Converts New Hires to Its Bizarre Office Culture

Amazon-owned shoe retailer that’s part of the Zappos family, Holocracy, is the largest and most famous business to embrace the philosophy that replaces the traditional top-down hierarchy with an autonomous alternative. But the transition over the last year and a half has by not been all smooth sailing. In fact, this philosophy has prompted more than 200 Holocracy employees to quit, for not everyone shares Zappos Chief Executive Officer’s enthusiasm for giving up hard-earned positions on the corporate ladder. Now the shoe retailer finds itself having to figure out ways to convert new hires to stick around its bizarre office culture…
